Cannabis and Anxiety

How can plant-based cannabinoids offer benefits for Anxiety? Read Bonni Goldstein MD's summary of the research on cannabis and Anxiety.

Hemp-derived cannabinoids can play a valuable role in managing anxiety by supporting the endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate mood and stress responses. CBD is the best studied and has been shown in both research and clinical practice to reduce anxiety without causing impairment. A recent meta-analysis reviewing the response of 316 participants in eight studies demonstrated a substantial significant impact of CBD on anxiety with a considerable effect size. CBDA and CBG are reported to also have anxiety-reducing properties in preliminary studies and patient reports. These compounds are generally well-tolerated with a favorable safety profile, with little to no side effects, especially with guidance by a knowledgeable practitioner who can provide proper dosing recommendations.
