Cannabis and Nausea / Vomiting

How can plant-based cannabinoids offer benefits for Nausea / Vomiting? Read Bonni Goldstein MD's summary of the research on cannabis and Nausea / Vomiting.

Plant cannabinoids have been used for centuries to ease nausea and vomiting, from ancient medical texts in China and India to modern clinical care. Today, scientific research confirms these traditional uses: the 2017 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine reported conclusive evidence that cannabinoids are effective in treating chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. More recent clinical trials, including a 2021 systematic review in Annals of Palliative Medicine, found that cannabinoids can reduce nausea intensity and improve appetite in patients undergoing cancer treatment. For many, these plant compounds offer a gentler and effective option either alone or in combination with conventional antinausea medications.
